Frequently asked questions about hiring a locum.

A locum is a temporary DI technologist brought in to cover short-term and long-term staffing challenges. Our roster includes vetted and skilled technologists in most modalities including:

  • Ultrasound and Echo
  • MRI / CT / Xray
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Combined Lab and Xray (CLXT)

If you require coverage for a specific time-frame or have an ‘open ended’ need for staffing, we can provide someone for your site(s) until such time as a permanent solution can be found.

ProMed HR Solutions has a large roster of technologists located across Canada. We can work with your site to ensure the best candidate with the more relevant skill-set is identified.

Locums allows for short-term and long-term coverage until a permanent staff member can be found. They are not ‘employed’ by your Health Region or Clinic, so having a locum come on site allows for greater flexibility regarding dates and hours worked.

We only contract technologists who have demonstrated superior skills and the ability to learn quickly and work independently. For some of the modalities we cover, we require a minimum of 2 years experience by the technologists in order to apply with ProMed HR Solutions.

We gather all the necessary paperwork and documentation that any employer would require including:

  • Current resume
  • 2 work references
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Proof of Insurance Immunization
  • Current Registration with Provincial or Federal Organization
  • Skills Sheet
  • Confidentiality Contract

Once we have confirmed your requirements, we then reach out to our pool of technologists and match them to your needs. We typically at least a few weeks prior notice in order to identify the Technologist(s) that best suits your needs, confirm their availability, and arrange travel and accommodation but we can often accommodate urgent requests.

ProMed HR Solutions can arrange all travel and accommodations, so all you have to do is book the patients at your site.
